Welcome back -- probably the suit is out on another scheduled day off we talked about this ad nauseam yesterday took a lot of phone calls former NBA referee. Him Donnie. 80%. Served time he's written a book. He says hey good luck winning -- championship in Portland with the way things are. In the NBA and Tim -- he joins us now on the digital communications. Smarter play college now how much time did you actually served him.

I have served up thirteen months. Fifteen months and.

Now you didn't tell the entire truth I would imagine. You would have served a lot more time how much.

I'm not sure. Certainly it would have been a lot worse than it was so I'm pretty fortunate that. I -- it hernia and I expect cooperate with the government and and the sentence was much less than what it could have been.

So the -- to assume then obviously the FBI found you to be telling the entire truth.

They did they found me to be very credible and I'm very fortunate that one of the agent felt scholar and about right before work for my book. Only under the condition that he could read it before and -- you -- he found in the -- was 100% truthful and now he ended up giving much Torre a lot of credibility with the fact that he says I tell the truth.

It's called personal foul and I recommend that it it is available on Amazon.com I I Tim. I'm one of those that doesn't just ready I don't to shoot you down night I don't think it is one rogue guy don't figure needed don't think you're dumb I think that's what she says week. Which you say makes a lot of sense. Let's start from the top thirteen year career but you bets for how long three or four years.

About the little less than four years that respect -- amended.

All right so what got you into it after you know 89 years -- only.

I think it was just a situation where and -- became addicted to gambling at about became the weather was playing cards are playing tough. The placing bets on sporting event sent. Started out with football and it escalated into. You know be using some inside information on what referees were wrong what games at times and being able to predict the outcome men and unfortunately for Mahan and unfortunately for a lot of my college -- use that information to push when and that's when games.

What was the information.

Information basically what you know relationships and -- positive -- negative relationships but in the NBA with referees and coaches referees and players -- recipes now owners. And you know some of the more positive and some of them were negative I used that information. Knowing what referees were going to be on certain game. On certain night and you know I would leader. A line in my head of what I thought the violent game I'd compare that to what the wind is in the USA today and it was different by three or four points that would help people that --

Can you name some of those relationships.

Sure I mean is no mistake that. You know on certain people -- Allen Iverson certain people fit like a month you know Joe Crawford and and -- learn. You know on the same page when it came out -- suggest that he's coming Crawford I don't like command and pathetic I don't like -- And you know it was a situation where. You know I knew that. -- the NBA referees were -- happy wouldn't just having had threatened Iverson I mean person is that Jaffe at the time and the referees were. You know ground to a little justice of our -- actually going to find a 2.5 thousand dollars when in other referees wanted to suspend it.

What about any Blazers are no Rasheed Wallace Bonzi Wells were certainly have. A kind of public enemy number one of many officials back when they were here.

No doubt about it arguably Rashid lost at target on the back on the refereed and -- situation where. You know basic complaint also in the west -- then and embarrassed repeated times whether it was on the floor in the newspaper. And you know the referees didn't take kindly to that.

Tim -- year guest here on the -- now do you think there's a racial element to this.

Now I don't really think you it was a racial. Because I've been there were. You know as well as weight referees that were black recipes and also that might those guys because of the way -- It out on the floor.

He said owner relationships anything involving Paul Allen.

Nothing about it Paul Allen out a lot of that -- to do it no Mark Cuban. And the a lot of the older referees didn't like -- was when he came forward. You know he was adamant that the referees need to do more whether it was -- pity for being held accountable for missed calls and now he's very adamant and and a supervisor at times. Made it known to that the officials a lot of extra work that get put on them was because of complaints from Mark Cuban.

So why did you say it'd be so difficult for the Blazers to win a championship.

I think the Blazers are small market team and I it right now I don't think -- have anybody. That's considered a star player in the league a marquee player in the league like. Kobe Bryant or LeBron jeans and and I can -- program can change referees. You know to promote these bigger market teams to promote -- stars because of you know what's -- in the bottom line and we don't know right now the NBA has some. Clean that they lost a hundred million dollars -- this year and and I think it they're still continuing to program to train ref -- and make sure these. Better match -- in these bigger city teams are. You know moving and advancing in the finals because that's what's gonna enabled them to get out of the red.

Mean that tells me Tim that the league's -- I mean -- How also supposed to view that it.

I don't -- sit down right picks but I will tell you that they put. -- certain players and certain teams that an advantage I don't think they. They'll win and tell them the referees make sure a certain team wins but -- in these meetings felt held referees what the world war. Based on what has happened in previous games and to me I was able -- to keep the easiest thing that is certain teams -- an advantage or certain player. And I was able they swing at 7080% of the time practically.

Yeah right if it would if -- were simply just bias I mean how did you hit 80% of the games that mean that that would seem to make sense to me.

Not only got to get on a couple radio issues last two weeks and and not the -- You know make some predictions based on some of the referees and and I actually been thirteen of thirteen. Thirteen for thirteen -- we -- You know I ecstatic call from. You know the probation department of former FBI agent and you know kinda press you. Presently working toward and we treatment center and everybody felt that. No that's not the message we want to. -- out there that I can still pick these teams and from what I understand MPH and and a that big uproar because I've I've still been able protect these teams. You know on radio stations and I and I got a stern. You know work from an FBI agent you know I need to knock off.

Nazi -- give us the -- of the night that they cows so Celtics you had.

No I can't I wish I could. It's it's something I think that the now. Make sure that moving forward and a lot of these interviews that I shy away.

Well it's it's. I mean it's just so obvious that Tim -- he is our guest he's a former NBA official who has served he said thirteen months -- on games. His book is called personal foul and you could pick it up at Amazon.com. -- How much free -- per game.

In the beginning I was betting 2000 dollars per game and we -- that level just because. We felt that. And he large amounts of money wouldn't wouldn't make -- detect quicker than what it was detective and we -- the parallel that wasn't really about the money it was. You know about the real that you for a -- me being able to protect these teams have -- and that's on them on a continuous basis.

What players did you have -- out against him his job biases for -- against.

I don't think there's an secretive Rusty Wallace and I get along on the court or off the court. In one situation at Portland that's been very well stop but. Do they give him the credit that in the past what mark Q did you know that they complained about over the years -- stuff that actually would happen. How it happened and it's it's a situation where you know they'd been outspoken about my pocket and how -- It a lot of -- what they shed over the person and I think because of that. Believe it can be pretty hard on them and you know taken a little bit every job on them because that.

Yeah it it seems like well the year you basically saying they were right you know it seems like Mark Cuban speaks out a lot he's right. Why does this not pick up more steam wire -- not more outrage about this.

You know what that that's something that I also think about a lot I think David Stern to very doubtful. Individual in the sports world even not in the political Connecticut world and I and I think for whatever reason that he's been swept under the route that. Now I received. You know he -- every day about. What people think about the -- and nothing's ever been negative and a lot of people open there's a strict economic changes in the NBA. Because. You know what's taken place over you know the last ten years a lot of unusual things that it happened. You know -- back -- the year that Portland was. In the conference finals with LA -- had it come back. In the fourth quarter and and you know it's just a strange things have happened over the years where. You know the -- You know really explains why decent --

But what happened there was that you know Portland was basically up -- large amount of points in the fourth quarter and you know one of the referees. You know certainly. What someone who who always favored big market teams in the star players and he made a lot of calls and and acting in the fourth quarter that enabled LA to make a pretty good comeback and won when the final --

Who was that I know that was pathetic right now. Unbelievable. Yeah now. What do you what do you think personally David Stern.

You know David Stern -- it is obviously a marketing genius. He's been able to. You know promote the league get as a player Lee but what happens with that is it. You know certain players are or didn't start treatment and big market teams are given up big market treatment and it's. It has to the game into more show than an athletic competition men and I think. For the you know good at the NBA. -- interest changes made and I think if he needs to. Basically come out and admit that there -- some things have happened over the years that should have happened and and moving forward referees are gonna have that. I'm vertical a team based on what's in the rule book and it's going to be true athletic competition. I don't think I think you because that he's gonna. Continue to lose credibility and a and a fan base and the league could be in more trouble on the canal.

Think officials are betting.

You know. I know the NBA did their own investigation and sixty -- sixty reference admitted to betting. In some way shape or form but. You know. In regard betting on NBA games I have no information say that they are. But I know that the FBI agents were adamant that but the information I gave them to their investigation I certainly wasn't the only one that was passing along. Inside information to others that. You know could help while bush push when that.

Our -- or Tim Donnie NBA refereed a book called her ballots available on Amazon.com. Putted at all entry of.

It all went by you know the book coming out there. People understanding that.

None none I mean how did you run end.

Hello you handed because down it was actually discovered over Gambino wiretapped. People associated with organized crime or basically making large sums of money based on my pick that was being -- that. And you know it was discovered an investigation started and I knew that I was a major target and and because of that that the game -- witness for the government.

So fun to see a date of that out there -- five C a Joey Crawford out there my is it safe to assume that I can do you -- and say look that. He's been officiating the Los Angeles Utah game it's. He's an LA guy.

But I think that there's more to look at that usually outlook for two referees on the game whether became -- A home game -- game whether they are strong or weak refereed -- and certainly what in my mind the spread would be and it was different. By four -- five points in the game you know I would certainly that the game.

Now how many of the officials have these types of bias is like a -- may examine all the.

Well there's there's sixty referees had the sixty threes. You know I targeted 35 of the referees so as strong biases. No one way or another or. No -- look for things that may happen in a previous team whether it was maybe it paid back in order or. You know actually directors seeking out the league office line new. Somebody like Kobe Bryant would he had an enormous advantage or LeBron James on a given night.

Why should officials inning I get that I get the ladies at the pay backs -- directive from the league office which to me east everybody that's listening -- should be stunned by that but. Why should officials care if if the large market teams are Kobe Bryant or LeBron James Milan.

I think they do what's good for the league NF there facilitating with the for the lead to lead advances and in the play elsewhere and and then instantly or finals roughly you can stay in the finals and making enormous amount of money if you basically don't much -- with the league talent you can do.

I'd say he'll be shocked if the Blazers went a title without a big star --

I would be absolutely shocked as you -- winning a title last saw -- down the road it's a trip ticket to a major trade they end up having yeah. You know marquee player like the Kobe Bryant or LeBron James.

Brandon Roy's not the guy.

He's not although he's -- he's he has a first class act and I'm sure Portland's very proud of him but he certainly not in the league of that between lead or a but --

But I Tim what do you what he can be doing nine -- gonna be gone on speaking circuit hopefully.

I I I do a lot of radio shows a lot of TV shows and not just start working for -- when treatment center out of New Jersey to wear. I'm involved in. And helping people with suffer from gambling addiction and share my story and letting them know that. If they don't get help and get things corrected at this point that it could end up in a much our situation just like I did.

Well I know you gonna be eight you get in Portland at some point along that way.

I'm supposed to give a speech at Portland at some point I think it -- July it hasn't been not totally confirmed yet. I'm actually find out.

Okay well if you come through here at the level keep in touch and I would love to have you come in studio now we're both. On radio and television and you know we've covered all this but I'd love to just had -- for an extended period we can talk about problems sports gambling and we can really get to through this and it's a --

I would I would be on the anytime that gentleman that I'm working with its. Somebody that has a larger -- have -- knowledge his name's Mike Osborne and first set treatment at a New Jersey in that. You know we both would be more included you know to a long signal to -- show so you know just keep -- and they got pat myself on -- vehicle anytime.

We'll do it to Tim thanks for carving -- a few minutes again the book up personal foul it is available on Amazon.com. I think -- I will -- attacks Islamic art recording how well do thanks.
